Adding the cotton to the mesh
Pulling cotton through our first mesh form to give it a fluffy exterior.

Once the first mesh form held its shape, we added cotton to it to make the fluffy exterior of the cloud. We tried putting our hand inside the mesh and pulling the cotton through. This was very time consuming, and as the cotton covered the outside of the mesh it became harder to see what we were doing.
The act of pulling the cotton through also changed the density of the cotton wherever it was pulled through the mesh, which would become more apparent later when it was lit from inside.
The cotton also fell off the cloud when it was moved around too much, but it did let us easily gain access to the mesh if we needed to make adjustments, and didn’t require more permanent solutions like using glue.
